We pride ourselves on providing clear communication. We know if you’ve never had a massage before, you may have many questions. Don’t hesitate to contact us about anything.

Arrival & Intake

Due to COVID-19 we are taking extra precautions to make sure all rooms are cleaned and sanitized so you can rest assured knowing you are safe. At this time, we are not requiring clients to wear masks unless they wish to and if you would like to request that your therapist wears a mask, please let us know. Cell phones must be turned to silent upon entering our facility.

At your first appointment you will fill out a medical form or an online medical form will be sent to your email. This form is confidential and allows your therapist to ensure you do not have any medical conditions that might make the massage unsafe for you. It is very important that you fill out your medical form completely, accurately, and also let your massage therapist know if there have been changes to your medical history or medications prior to each appointment. If you bring a doctor’s note to become sales tax exempt, these notes are valid for 1 year (unless otherwise noted as sooner on them) and must remain updated in order for you to receive your discount.

After you fill out paperwork, you will then be escorted to your treatment room. Your therapist will review the medical form with you, go over your goals for receiving massage, what you can expect during the massage, and address any questions you may have.  A 60 minute massage is enough time to get a full body massage, however, some people choose to only focus on certain areas to address where they have the most issue or to avoid painful or ticklish areas. Your therapist will work on whatever areas within ethical boundaries you feel would benefit you the most.

Undressing

Your therapist will then step out of the room to allow you get undressed. Appropriate draping is required at all times. This means that only the part of the body being worked on will be uncovered at a time. Your comfort and modesty is our top priority. Some people choose to leave their underwear on during a massage session. If you have specific hip issues it is much easier to access the hip muscles if the underwear is removed, however, for most hip work we typically work through the sheet or sheet and blanket so whether you remove undergarments or not rest assured your modesty will be protected. Also, if you do choose to remove underwear during standard massages, we still keep you covered over the midline.  It is your choice whether you remove your jewelry, however, we do request that necklaces be removed since they inhibit thorough neck and shoulder work. After you undress, get onto the massage table underneath the sheet/blanket. Your therapist will let you know whether to start face up or face down (we typically start face down). Your therapist will knock on the door and announce themselves before entering your room.

Communication During the Massage

Upon entering the room, your therapist will ask you about your temperature, adjust your headrest for comfort if needed and give you a pillow for under your knees or ankles (depending on if you start face up or face down). If you need a pillow for under your chest or stomach to make lying face down more comfortable, please don’t hesitate to ask. During your massage it is entirely up to you whether you wish to chat with your therapist or not. The massage session is all about you and how you will get the most out of your massage. We do ask that if you choose to chat with your therapist that you keep your voice at a low volume so as not to disturb clients in adjoining rooms. The therapist will ask you about depth of pressure during your massage, but feel free to speak up at any point if you require lighter or deeper pressure. Even if you decide not to chat during a massage, it is important to let your therapist know if you feel any pain or discomfort throughout the massage session. Many people benefit from deeper massage techniques and many from lighter, speak up about what is benefiting you the most.

Environment During the Massage

You can expect a peaceful and relaxing environment including dim lighting and quiet music. If you prefer no music at all, let your therapist know. We do our best to minimize external sound during your session with extra insulation in our walls and soundproofing on our doors.

What To Expect During the Massage

Your massage therapist will move your arms, legs, or head if needed to better access certain muscles. You do not need to assist them with these movements. All you need to do is relax.

Massage Length

No matter what time frame you select for your massage, you can be confident in knowing that this is the amount of hands on time you will receive. When you schedule a 60 minute massage, you receive a 60 minute massage. The only exception to this is if you arrive late for your appointment. If you are late for an appointment we will do our best to still get in your full time, but it is not guaranteed and full price will still be due. We always appreciate if you arrive at your appointments 5-10 minutes early. WE ONLY UNLOCK OUR FRONT DOOR 10 MINUTES PRIOR TO APPOINTMENTS SO DO NOT ARRIVE MORE THAN 10 MINUTES EARLY FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT.

Cancellations

** If you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 or any other virus please cancel your appointment**

Our therapists book by appointment only and a cancellation can dramatically affect their income for the day. Cancellation of any appointment with less than 24-hour notice will result in a 50% fee of the appointment cost. Appointments cancelled less than 3 hours in advance or no call/no shows of appointments will result in a full 100% charge of the appointment cost. If you have a card on file, it will be charged the fees listed above if the cancellation requirements are not met. If you do not have a card on file, you will be responsible for fees via cash, check, or credit card taken over the phone. If you are using a gift certificate as payment, you must let us know at the time you cancel if you would like the fee deducted from the gift certificate instead of charged to your account. We respect your time just as we would like you to respect ours.

Payment

When your massage is complete, the therapist will step out of the room to allow you to get dressed. You may then come out to the lobby to pay for your service. We accept cash, check, or credit cards, however, as a small business, we always appreciate cash or check to avoid massive credit/debit card fees. Sales tax will apply to all services unless you have an up-to-date doctors note on file. Tips are always appreciated, but never expected.

What You Need to Know Before and After Your Session

Do not schedule a massage session within 48 hours of receiving any vaccine. It is very important to drink plenty of water the day before, day of, and day after your session. Massage therapy increases blood flow to the muscles, pumping out excess waste, and you must assist flushing this waste through your kidneys via hydration. This will help you get the most out of your massage. Deeper techniques such as trigger point therapy and cupping can also cause some residual soreness the day after your massage so the more water the better. If this soreness persists, let your therapist know at your next session so they can adjust pressure accordingly to help avoid this.  Take time after your massage session to relax or nap, whatever your body needs. Try not to plan anything too strenuous immediately following a massage. In the days following your session, stretch as much as you can to help keep muscles limber and flexible to extend the massage benefits.

Inappropriate Behavior Policy

We reserve the right to refuse service to any person for any reason. Inappropriate or offensive comments, innuendos, verbal or physical advances of any kind will not be tolerated. All of our Masssage Therapists are licensed by the Medical Board of Ohio and by law appropriate draping is required during sessions. If a therapist feels uncomfortable at any point the session will end and you will be banned from our property. A police report will also be filed.
